JOSEPH J. KING, age 89, of Lombard, World War II Army Veteran, died April 26 at Lemont Center Nursing Home, Lemont, Illinois.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 4 with Visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Mr. King is survived by four children, Jeannie Jones of Dexter, Kentucky, Diane (Bill) Kielb of Naperville, Dr. Joseph, Jr. (Dr. Patricia) of Madison, Wisconsin, and Helen Winter of Lombard; eight (8) grandchildren; and five (5) great-grandchildren.
Mr. King is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle ‘Peggy’, nee Jones; and six (6) brothers and sisters.

Mr. King was a resident of Lombard 58 years. He was a member of the Villa Park VFW and also a member of the Conservation Corp. Mr. King was an exceptional human being who was admired for his strength and kindness toward others.

EMMA GURKA, nee Cook, age 96, of Lombard, died April 29 at Lexington Healthcare, Lombard, Illinois.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 3 at 10 AM at Brust Funeral Home.
Interment will be at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, Illinois.

Mrs. Gurka is survived by her son, Robert (Mary) of Lombard; her daughter-in-law, Helen (Tim) Tipton of Florida; three (3) grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Gondek of Mundelein, Michael of Florida, Amy Gurka of Chicago; and two (2) great-grandchildren, Soren and Anakin.
Mrs. Gurka is preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Albert; her grandson, John Gurka; and 6 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Gurka was born in Evanston and was a resident of Lexington in Lombard for 20 years. She was formerly of the Harwood Heights neighborhood in Chicago, and then Schaumburg. Mrs. Gurka had worked for Irving Park Cemetery years ago. During World War II she helped build planes for Douglas Aircraft Company. Mrs. Gurka was a baker, crafter, and gardener.

DOLORES LULINSKI-DYBALSKI, M.D., age 87, of Lombard, died April 19 at Beacon Hill Health Care, Lombard, Illinois.

Services were private at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Dr. Lulinski-Dybalski is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack N.; two sons, Jack (Catherine) of Littleton, Colorado, and David (Deborah) of LaGrange Park; her daughter, Susan of Denver; two grandchildren, David and Danielle; her brother, Sylvester (Phyllis) Lulinski; and her dearest niece, Darice.

Dr. Lulinski-Dybalski was the first elected president of a 252 member medical staff at Little Company of Mary Hospital, as well as the first woman to be named staff president. She was in professional practice for 60 years.

Mrs. Shanahan is survived by her children:  Jerry (Sandy) of Crystal Lake, Maureen (Rory) Schraub of Villa Park, Eileen (Jack) Llewellyn of Springfield, MO, Sheila (Mike) Senjanin of Evergreen Park, and Patrick of Chicago; her grandchildren:  Kim, Kevin, Nick, Sara, Sean, Margaret, Bridget, Meghan, Lauren and Tyler; her great grandchildren:  Emily, Logan, Kyle, and Elisabeth; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by one grandson:  Justin, and three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Shanahan was born in County Mayo Ireland and came to the United States in 1947.  She was a resident of Berwyn for 30 years and Mayslake Village for 10 years.

BARBARA MAY LIVERMORE, nee Beckman, age 79, life-long resident of Lombard, died April 14 at her home.

Mrs. Livermore is preceded in death by her father, Al Beckman; and two (2) sisters, Marilyn and Carol.

Mrs. Livermore was born and raised in York Center, Lombard.  She was a graduate of Trinity Lutheran Grade School; a 1951 graduate of York High School; and a graduate of Columbia College.  Mrs. Livermore received her Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State and her Master’s Degree in Education from National Lewis University.  Mrs. Livermore was a retired Teacher and Administrator for over 30 years, mainly at Green Valley School and C.A.S.E., (Cooperative Association for Special Education).  She was the first female employee of the Lombard Park District.  Mrs. Livermore was  married for 57 years.  She was the Lombard Woman of the Year in 1983.  Mrs. Livermore was a member of the First Church of Lombard for over 50 years.  She was a former member of the Choir and had served on Church council.

Mrs. Livermore had been active with the Lombard YWCA and the Tri-Town YMCA.  She had been active with the Lombard Historical Society and the PTA.  Mrs. Livermore was a member of the ITA – Illinois Teacher Association.  Mrs. Livermore had been active with the AAUW and a support group for Breast Cancer at the Wellness House in Hinsdale.  She had been a caregiver to her parents, many aunts and uncles and many friends from York Center.
